What drives peridot price
Peridot (gem olivine) ranges from yellowish-green to a rich, pure green. The most prized colour is a vivid, slightly grassy pure green with minimal yellow or brown. Because peridot is idiochromatic (green is intrinsic), colour differences are about purity and depth rather than hue.
Size & origin
Small peridot is inexpensive and abundant, but clean stones above roughly 5 ct with fine colour are much scarcer, so per-carat prices climb notably with size. Fine large material from Pakistan (Kashmir/Suppat) and historically Burma commands premiums; Arizona and China supply commercial goods.
Clarity & treatment
Peridot is a Type II stone; eye-clean is the practical target and its high double refraction gives a soft, "sleepy" brilliance. Peridot is essentially never treated, so natural colour is the default.
