Yellow sapphire price: what it is worth per carat

Yellow sapphire is valued for a pure, vivid yellow. Saturation, heat-treatment status and lab reports drive price — and demand is boosted by its use in astrology (Pukhraj).

What drives yellow sapphire price

Yellow sapphire is fancy corundum in yellow hues. The most valued is a pure, vivid "canary" yellow with strong saturation and no brown or green. As with all sapphire, heat treatment and certification strongly affect price.

Colour & treatment

Vivid, evenly saturated yellow commands the premium. Most yellow sapphire is heated (standard and accepted). Unheated stones with major-lab reports carry a premium, while beryllium-diffused stones are a separate lower-value category that must be disclosed.

Clarity, origin & size

Type II corundum tolerates minor inclusions; eye-clean is preferred. Sri Lanka (Ceylon) is the classic source. Fine clean stones climb in per-carat price with size. Note strong astrological demand (Pukhraj) for clean, untreated stones can lift prices for certified natural material.
